Lost track...Day 18?

So, this week was a disaster. Everything about it. I was sick Thursday. I believe the only days I worked out were Monday (cardio) and Tuesday (sculpt). I am disappointed in myself, but today I got back on the wagon and did the cardio routine. I also moved a bunch of boxes that were quite heavy, so I did a bit of weight lifting :). So, we will call today Day 18, and I will be better this week. That is all I can ask of myself.

Send me some good vibes for this week!

Day 15

Not much to report today. Did the sculpt video. I need to go buy heavier weights. I was tired, but I was able to do 8 push ups each time we were supposed to. I will work that number up to 15, but when I started I couldn't do any!

Days 13 and 14

I have officially done 14 days of Power 90! While it doesn't seem like much considering how much I have left to go, I am proud that I have stuck with it.

Day 13 - Sculpt. This day was pretty tough. I had a terrible day at work, and Lucky got in trouble at daycare. I burst into tears in the lobby of the daycare. I was very tempted to just come home and crash. But, I managed to make myself do the dvd. I figured it was only 28 minutes, and I made it to the end! So while I wasn't in the best form, and probably could have tried harder, I get an A for effort!

Day 14 - Cardio. Today I had really tight calves again. I need to remember to stretch them out, and to drink lots of water during the day, even when I am not at work. I did more abs, but I couldn't do some of the jumps. I would give myself a B for today.

Day 12

Cardio - Today my calves were not very pleased with working out. Maybe I didn't stretch them out enough. I made it through, not a great work out, but at least I did it, right? I feel like I can do the ab routine better each time, although still when I get to the end I can barely do any of the last set!
I had a long pretty miserable day, so I am impressed I did it!

Day 11

Today was sculpt! I felt very strong today. I did most of the push ups and while they were on my knees, I could tell I worked hard. The dips are probably my worst of the group. I can even do all 15 reps of the rest of the exercises!

Days 8-10

Day 8 : Sculpt. I am feeling pretty good at most of the weight lifting exercises. The hardest part for sure is the push ups. Today I focused on doing the pushups well and having the correct form. It was hard, but worth it. I didn't eat great (well, actually, the food was fabulous, just not great for me).

Day 9 : I sort of fell off the wagon today. I did a lot of walking and running around with Lucky, but I didn't push play on my videos. I am still down on myself for that. I won't take a break on Wednesday, I will make Sundays my day off instead so I can stay on track.

Day 10 : I did the cardio work out tonight. It was hard, but I worked hard too. I can do more of the jumping and I did all of the run lunges. The hardest part was probably the abs at the end, but I feel like I am doing better at them each time I do the workout.

I didn't sleep well last night so I am going to bed early tonight to try to get enough rest to last the week. I have noticed that I am more awake during the days when I get exercise. That is a definite plus!

Day 7 - One Week!!

I made it one whole week. Today was cardio, and I pushed myself to do more of the jumps and the crunches. I am glad I have stuck to it so far, but I have a long way to go. I feel better already, and although I don't want to get my hopes up too much about how quickly I will see results, I compared a few measurements yesterday, and it seems I have already lost an inch in my waist! If that isn't motivation to keep going, I don't know what is! I think my prize this week will be going to see Harry Potter. I also need to go buy heavier weights for the coming weeks. Thanks for the encouragement, you know who you are!

Day 5/6

When I started Power 90, I decided to make Wednesday my day off. I am usually exhausted by the time Wednesday comes around, so I think a break is good. I started day 6 with minimal soreness, and even sort of looked forward to sculpt today! I have to say, the length of the workouts is no problem, once I push play, they go by really fast. The toughest part for me is the push ups, I have never really been able to do them, but I still give it my best shot. The dips at the end are hard too.

I have also been keeping track of what I eat on weight watchers online. I really enjoy their frozen meals, and they even have desserts! I need to work on eating more fruits and veggies. Today I was craving chocolate - so I opted for some chocolate covered fruit. Delicious, and fairly nutritious!

Day 4

I am not going to lie. Today was hard. I went to dinner with my friend Stephanie, and when I got home, I was NOT in the mood to work out. But, as I made a commitment, I 'pushed play', and did my cardio work out. My body was sore all day, so the beginning was tough. I did the yoga just fine, but the jumping jacks and cross work were tough. I got my head into it by the time the kickboxing came around and I finished strong. I did most of the 100 crunches (probably about 85 of them). I would say today is a success, if for nothing else, the fact that I did it when I didn't really feel like it.

New Work Out Plan

I got a call two weeks ago from my college roommate, Em, and she invited me to go to Hawaii in October. I was ecstatic about going, but it caused me to take a long hard look at how much I have let myself go over the last few years. It is embarrassing. Really really embarrassing. So, on this note, I ordered Power 90 (by the same people who made P90X) and started Saturday, July 9th. I am committing to 90 days of work outs 6 days a week. There are 2 workouts, cardio and sculpt. About half way through, I switch to slightly longer work outs.

Here are my thoughts on the first three days.

Day 1 : Weights have never been my thing. But, I powered through it, and the band they sent with the kit is too hard, so I went to target and bought some small weights. They are 3 lbs. Small, I know, but I want to start slow. I can always move up. The work out is 28 minutes, and there are three short stretching breaks.

Day 2 : I noticed my arms were a bit sore, but not bad. Sunday was cardio. I have always preferred cardio. It was fun. I definitely sweat a ton, and felt a lot more confident than I did on the sculpt workout. I had a bit of an issue with the power yoga, but I will get the hang of it. It ended with 100 crunches 10 of 10 different types.

Day 3 : Today my abs are definitely sore. But, in a good way. Back to sculpt. I am surprised by how much more I liked the weight lifting today than I did on Saturday. It was almost fun. I need major work on pushups, but that is what this is all about, right? Three days in!

I am going to give myself a small treat each week that I complete. I took a before picture, but I am not posting it until I have a comparison. My goals are not in pound terms, but rather to be more in shape and have my clothes fit better. Hopefully, I can rock a swimsuit in Hawaii. Wish me luck!
